Job Title: Welder/Fitter – Structural & Miscellaneous Steel
Location: Elmore, AL
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Shop Foreman
Position Overview:We are seeking a skilled Welder/Fitter with experience in structural steel and miscellaneous metal fabrication to join our fabrication team. This role involves interpreting shop drawings, fabricating various steel components, and assembling structures accurately and safely. Candidates with forklift experience and the ability to load/unload material from trucks are highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings
- Fit and weld structural and miscellaneous steel components to specifications
- Operate MIG, TIG, and Stick welding equipment effectively and safely
- Use grinders, torches, magnetic drills, and other shop tools
- Ensure parts are fabricated to tight tolerances and quality standards
- Assist with loading and unloading materials, including use of forklifts and rigging equipment
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of welding/fitting experience in a steel fabrication environment
- Proficiency with structural and miscellaneous metals (e.g., handrails, stairs, embeds)
- Ability to read shop drawings and weld symbols
- Forklift operation experience (certification a plus)
- Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work in a physically demanding environment
- Basic math skills and attention to detail
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Compensation:
- Hourly Wage: $20 – $25 per hour
- Based on experience, certifications, and skill level
- Overtime may be available
